General
Guidelines |
| |
For accurate test results, apply samples from
bowel movements collected on three different
days to collection cards.
|
Do
not collect samples if blood is visible
in your stool or urine (e.g. menstruation,
active hemorrhoids, urinary tract infection).
Contact your doctor.
|
|
|
For the
most accurate test results collect each
stool sample before contact with the toilet
bowl water. You may use any clean, dry
container.
|
|
Return completed
collection cards to your doctor or laboratory
no later than 10 days after your first
sample collection.
|
|
|
Remove toilet
bowl cleaners from toilet tank and flush
twice before proceeding.

Collection |
| |
|
|
Remove
one collection card from paper dispensing
envelope. Using a ball-point pen, write
your name, ID# (if applicable), the doctor's
name and collection date on the collection
card. |
2.
|
Open front
of the collection card. Use one stick
to collect a small sample. Apply a thin
smear covering the top section of the
box. Collect second sample from different
part of stool with same stick. Apply a
thin smear covering the lower section
of the box. Smear the sample between the
top and bottom section of the sample boxes.
|
3.
|
Close and
secure front flap of section by inserting
it under tab. Store collection card in
the any paper envelope (not plastic bag)
until the mailing day.
Important: This allows the sample
to "air dry."
Do not place sampled collection
card in any moisture-proof material such
as plastic bags.
Do not store collection card in refrigerator
at any time.
|
4.
|
If used,
flush collection tissue; discard stick
in a waste container. Do not flush
stick.
|
5.
|
Repeat steps
2-5 for the next two days, using collection
cards 2 and 3. After completing the last
collection card, store the collection
card overnight. The next day, remove collection
card from the paper envelope and place
in the Mailing Pouch. Seal pouch carefully
and immediately return to your doctor
or laboratory.
|
Note: Current U.S. Postal Regulations prohibit
mailing completed collection cards in any standard
paper envelope. Do not return or mail collection
cards to Beckman Coulter, Inc.
